As an interior designer I am often asked what is the “in color”. Always an interesting question. There are many experts in the color field. I have listed a few here , with their opinions for the color of 2015.
The Color Marketing Group’ s color is “Spring Forever”. A cool green with yellow undertones. “Not a fragile green, this color denies any mention of the doldrums, instead appearing self-assured and bold whether appearing in fashion or adapted for home decor”.
Pantone’s 2015’s color of the year is Marsala. A rich red-brown bringing warmth to fashion and interiors. “This hearty, yet stylish tone is universally appealing and translates easily to fashion , beauty, industrial design, home furnishings and interiors.”
Benjamin Moore color of the year is “Guilford Green”. “A neutral that’s a natural. A silvery green that works with, well everything. No worries. No second thoughts”. Ellen O’Neil, creative director, Benjamin Moore.
Sherwin Williams 2015 color of the year is Coral Reef. “Upbeat and optimistic, Coral Reef celebrates a time of renewal and is the perfect melange of pink, orange and red that can be used in any space”.
All beautiful, all based in nature. Ok, so which is it red or green? Red and green are complementary colors that work beautifully together. I say feel free to use one, or all of these beautiful colors. But, most of all, use your favorite colors. As interior designer Billy Baldwin, is often quoted “Be faithful to your own taste because nothing you really like is ever out of style”.
